Zero Signal Protocol (ZSP)

A voluntary, opt-in protocol that transforms digital inactivity into a safety net.
Protect yourself, your loved ones, or your team when the unexpected happens.

Why ZSP Exists

We live in a world of constant digital surveillance and 24/7 tracking.
Rather than reject that reality, Zero Signal Protocol turns it into a tool for protection and autonomy.
By letting individuals decide how their absence is communicated, ZSP transforms passive monitoring into an opt-in safety net — a way to protect ourselves and others when silence could otherwise be mistaken for neglect, ghosting, or disappearance.Whether you’re a solo traveler, a journalist in the field, a parent, or a public figure, ZSP gives you the power to decide the thresholds, the recipients, and the message.

How It Works / Use Cases

Set a timeout.
Pick the window of no activity (18 hours, 48 hours, 7 days etc.) Literally anytime you want.
Choose your action.
Notify trusted contacts, post to social media, trigger a webhook or autodeply SMS to contacts.
Stay in control.
Use ZSP for safety, mental health, or clearer communication (“I’m off-grid, don’t worry”).

Licensing

ZSP is released under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL) with an automatic conversion to Apache 2.0 on October 1, 2030.Until then, non-commercial experimentation is welcome.
Commercial or production use before the Change Date requires a separate, written agreement with the Licensor.
This structure lets us protect the project from abuse, fund its development, and ultimately release it freely to the world.
